Having never worked in the UK, I don't know, however, I thought that you must have some family link to work there, but I stand to be corrected. I know a lot of dentists used to go there and work in the National Dental Service. Remuneration seemed to be on par with Australia.

My understanding is that unless you graduated prior to 2001, you now need to do the General Dental Council exam before you will be approved to work as a dentist in the UK.

You may download the file Working in the UK leaflet for non-UK qualified dentists (PDF format, 822 KB)
If it doesn't work then click here to read its html form....
This will definitely provide you the information you require.
Best of luck....

Hey guys, good news. I have done some searching because I couldn't sleep last night trying to think how I could go to UK and get a job there. Requirements to work in UK are straight forward and easy to obtain if you've got the right qualifications and experience.
To work in the UK, you must have the following:

* A valid Visa or Work Permit

* Get a National Insurance Number (NINO) or NI

* Show a Proof of Address

* Open a UK Bank Account

* CRB Clearance if you are working with vulnerable individuals and want to work in care or security or the health sector

* Have a clean full UK driving license and means of transportation are additional requirements for certain jobs.

If you are planning to work in a specialized field or profession, then you must seek to obtain the respective professional body UK work requirements. If you are doctor from outside the EU for example, you will need to pass the PLAB exams, and obtain the General Medical Council (GMC)registration before you can practice medicine in the UK.

Hope you weren't visiting Christchurch on the day of the earthquake! What a terrible situation...

Thanks. I haven't. I still haven't even scheduled the trip yet, still have a lot of work to do before I am approved for a vacation leave. I'll make note of it.
